David Evenchick, cello

David resides in Montreal Québec after many years of teaching at the Preucil School of Music (Iowa City) and The Suzuki String School of Guelph (Ontario). He is the cello trainer for Wilfrid Laurier University’s Long Term Suzuki Pedagogy program as well as the cello coordinator for the Southwestern Ontario Suzuki Institute. Currently David is faculty at the Pre-Conservatoire de Musique de Montréal.
He has been a member of the National Ballet of Canada Orchestra, The Cedar Rapids Symphony, Principal Cello of the Prince George (BC) and Guelph Symphony Orchestras and a founding core player for the Magisterra Soloists (London Ontario).
David has a particular interest in the research and performance of compositions of the great Croatian cello pedagogue, Rudolf Matz. He has been awarded the Anne T. Clearly Fellowship for International Doctoral Research from The University of Iowa, and he continues to perform Matz’s solo works.
Recently David has rekindled his passion for downhill skiing and is now the proud owner of a 1971 Volvo 1800E.
