Lusine Petrosyan, cello

Dr. Lusine Petrosyan is an active chamber performer and teacher. Passionate about education, Dr. Petrosyan has organized numerous music educational programs for elementary schools in Ontario, introducing music of the world to younger generations in engaging and interactive ways. In recent years, she especially enjoys creating multimedia programs, acquainting the wide audience with composers’ works through combining music, films, and visual art for better understanding of the works being performed. Among recent programs were Shostakovich: A Russian Tale and Adam Khudoyan: A Philosopher of Armenian Music dedicated to the anniversaries of the great composers.

Dr. Petrosyan holds Doctorate degrees in Cello Performance and Musicology from Michigan State University and the Yerevan State Conservatory in Armenia, and a Bachelor of Education from the University of Windsor. She regularly performs with the Windsor Symphony Orchestra and has worked with several orchestras in Ontario and Michigan, including London, Detroit Civic, and Grand Rapids Symphony Orchestras. She frequently plays with Verdehr and Friends, the 4th Wall, and other annual chamber music series, performing a wide range of classical and contemporary repertoire. As a soloist and with various groups, Dr. Petrosyan has performed in Armenia, Cyprus, Germany, France, Russia, USA, and Canada.

Currently, Dr. Petrosyan teaches music at Wilton Grove Public School in London, Ontario, and spends her summers as a cello instructor at one of the largest music camps in the United States, Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp. One of her favourite things about being a musician-educator is making the fine arts accessible to young people and creating opportunities for them to experience and appreciate the arts.
